About Ceiling Fans

Choosing the right ceiling fan can often be a confusing and intimidating process.

With many factors to keep in mind, we've come up with a handy guide to help you make the right choice every time!

Where Will This Be Installed?

While at first this may sound obvious, not all ceiling fans are created equally when it comes to their function. The Room Size, Number of Blades, Blade Size, and Ceiling Height are all factors to consider when planning to install a new fan.

Room Size

A fan that’s too small won’t circulate air effectively, while one that’s too large can overwhelm the space.

  • 60-250 SQFT
    =
    Up to 49in. Sweep
  • 250-400 SQFT
    =
    50-59in. Sweep
  • 400-600 SQFT
    =
    60in. or Above Sweep

Ceiling height is also an important factor, as standard mount fans work for rooms with 8 foot ceilings, but a downrod is recommended for higher ceilings to position the fan at the optimal height (about 8-9 feet from the floor).

Other Factors to Consider

Beyond size, consider a fan's features and style. Energy-efficient models can help to lower utility bills.

Switch options like pull chains, wall controls, or remote controls should also be taken into account. Reversible motor functions also allow for year-round use, able to be switched for summer cooling or winter circulation.

Just as importantly, matching the design and finish to can help accent a space, whether when choosing a sleek modern look, traditional vintage-style wood blades, or even commercial setups for large warehouses and storage bays.
