LED Lighting Products - Why Switch?

RSS

LED Warehouse High Bay LightingBeing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly is no longer just seen as a good idea, but a way of life. This is especially true for business that are looking to cut down on their overhead expenditures by reducing their carbon footprint. One major way that companies can be on the cutting edge of “corporate concern” for their energy expenditure is by switching to LED lights.

LEDs are known as light emitting diodes, which are small electronic devices that give off far more light per unit than traditional fluorescent or incandescent lights. LED lights are typically more expensive than traditional bulbs, but the money that you end up saving means that the expense pays for itself.

HTM Lighting provides affordable, low-energy consuming LED lighting products that are:

LEDs Last Longer with Low Maintenance

LED lights are rated for up to 50,000 hours of illumination, compared to Incandescent bulbs that are only rated for 2,000 hours of illumination. This would mean that a bulb would last, at a business that operates 5 days a week for 10 hours a day, for 19+ years. Compared to incandescent bulbs that would have to be switched out about 2x times a year.  Additionally, LED bulbs don’t “burn out” after they reach 50,000 hours. This just means that the bulbs are now only producing 70% of their maximum illumination potential.

Cost Efficient

LEDs can save up to 70% of a company’s energy output. In some cases, payback on LED lighting can be reached in as little as 1 year.

A study published by Energy.gov shows that LED lights contributed to saving almost 2 billion dollars in savings and if every American had switched to using them, the number could have been as high as forty-nine billion dollars.

Brightness

When switching to an LED light bulb, you may see that the lumen value listed on the LED light doesn’t match that of an incandescent or halogen light. This is because the light form an LED light is directional. Whereas, as incandescent light shines light in all directions, which only a part of is used to light up the surface you want.

Additionally, LED bulbs are instant on. They come to full brightness as soon as you turn them on. CFLs and HID bulbs can take several minutes to reach full brightness.

Variety of Color Temperatures

With most lighting sources, you’re usually stuck with a single color temperature. Fluorescent lamps have always been an exclusion to this rule, providing businesses with warm 3000K lighting to a daylight cool of 6500K.

Typically incandescent bulbs are around 2700K and halogens are usually around 3000K. LEDs provide options from a warm 2400K all the way to a cool 5000K.

Low Heat

Most light bulbs emit a ton of heat, and as we all know, you would never try to replace one without first giving it a cool down period. LEDs, however, remain cool to the touch on the front of the bulbs.

LEDs also, don’t emit much, or any, UV radiation. Which has always been a health concern for many people when it came to CFL lighting.
